Melanie was a successful sculptor and diorama artist for more than a decade before launching a career as a travel writer in 2008. In addition to running two blogs, she has written for the San Francisco Chronicle, USA Today, AOL Travel and more. Tortured for years by an unwritten book of fiction based on the Golden Age of Exploration, she's now writing about topics that seem — to her, anyway — a whole lot funnier.

When not somewhere else, Melanie lives in Los Angeles.
